Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between granite and marble?
Granite is among the most rigid substances on earth, making it an excellent countertop material. Essentially, it is an igneous rock, meaning it liquefied and formed as it cooled deep within the earth. Minerals containing granite usually look like numerous small flecks throughout the stone. Granite is incredibly durable, thanks to its ability to resist scratches, stains, heat, and acids.
With its attractive colors, unique crystal patterns, and textures, granite countertops create an inviting culinary environment.
On the other hand, marble was limestone that metamorphosized from exceedingly high pressure and temperatures within the earth. Fio this reason, its crystalline structure changed to other minerals with characteristic color and veining. This complex formation over millions of years resulted in unique stones whose appearance is not like that of other machine-made products.
Marble creates a stunning look, especially in a bath where its veining patterns and color create elegant designs. It is susceptible to acid foods like vinegar, wine, tomatoes, and lemon juice. It is also sensitive to mildew removers, tile cleaners, and harsh cleaners. Unlike granite, marble is foster and susceptible to scratches.
Does granite stain?
Granite is the least porous stone to exist. As if that is not enough, the small pores are polished and filled with resin before the stone goes to the distributor. To prevent staining, another sealant is applied after it is installed.
Even so, water left on granite countertops over a long period will likely stain. The dark sport, showing evidence of moisture, will fade over time.
If oil is left on granite for considerably longer, it will be absorbed into the stone. The best you can do is to wipe the stains as they occur. Wiping oil stains with poultice will help draw out the oil. The residue will redistribute over time such that it can be detected
Is granite scratch resistant?
Granite is one of the hardest stones, which means it will not lose its shine and luster when used normally. Your table and countertops will always remain attractive.
Is granite heat resistant?
Unlike most synthetic solid surfaces, granite can withstand high temperatures. For instance, granite can withstand a stove right onto its surface or a hot dish from the oven.
Will my granite chip or crack?
Granite is hard and potent to withstand the fabrication process. Similarly, don’t expect your granite to break under normal kitchen conditions.
How do I care for my granite countertops?
Granite countertops are relatively easy to maintain. All you need is mild soap and water. You can also use spray cleaner with anti-bacterial agents.
Although granite is resistant to acids, please do not use cleaners containing acids, ammonia, citrus base, or bleach because these can potentially damage the finish.
What are the differences between an under-mount sink and a drop-in?
A drop-in sink is simply a sink that has been dropped into a cut-out from above the countertop. On the other side, an under-mount sink sits under the polished rim.
While drop-in sinks are cheaper to install, their counterparts offer a smooth surface from counter to sink. The additional polishing involved in under-mount sinks translates to extra costs.
What is Quartz?
Quartz is a compound stone made by combining 90% – 93% of powder rocks with natural hard minerals having 7% to 10% of polymers, resins, and pigments. Some quartz feature mirror fragments and other glasses, which gives the resulting stone a uniquely attractive look.
What is Vadara Quartz?
At its core, Vadara Quartz is a South Korean upscale brand featuring 93% natural power rocks and 7% resins plus other fragments. It has a unique 3D appearance attributed to the handcrafting process.
How does Vadara compare to granite or marble?
Like the granite and quartzites in nature, vadara is scratch-resistant and easy to maintain. Vadara Quartz is denser, nonporous, and won’t absorb liquid and foods like marble. It doesn’t require any sealer.
